Why does MAGNA intervene in Cambodia?

MAGNA’s first mission was in Phnom Penh, the capital and largest city of Cambodia, where the HIV/AIDS epidemic grew to extreme proportions and in 2002 threatened hundreds of thousands of people and affected children. We were the first to provide ARV treatment to children with HIV/AIDS in 2002.

After two decades of relative stability, Cambodia is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia. The country was marked by a catastrophic civil war and the cruel regime of the Khmer Rouge, who murdered two million people between 1975 and 1978, and at the beginning of the millennium the HIV/AIDS epidemic, which grew to extreme proportions.

MAGNA has been treating HIV/AIDS victims in Cambodia for 20 years.
